From Wednesday 29th May 2024 there will be a change to the way pricing for children will be sent to Distribution.
From this date, pricing for 3 or more children (up to a maximum of 5 children) will also be sent to Distribution, including the existing 1 and 2 child pricing that is currently sent.
The price for a child will remain static, as it is today.
This value will be controlled in two areas.
Rezlynx PMS
The value updated to Distribution will be controlled based on the maximum* number of occupants supported on a Rate Plan.
PMS > Rate Plans > Criteria > Occupants From/To
Child pricing is either controlled by the Product on the Product Rule or by Per Person pricing.
*Minus 1, due to child only rooms not being able to be sold online.
Distribution Hub
The additional pricing will update online to supported channels, based on the Max Child, configured in Distribution.
In Distribution Hub > Configuration > Rooms > Manage Rooms
OR
In Rezlynx PMS > Rooms > Manage Rooms
Editing each room type will allow you to view the number of occupants configured.
Tip - Max Children cannot be equal or greater than overall max pax
The price for each child can be viewed in Manage Rates > Details
Will I be impacted?
Customers using Guestline DBM or our RoomlynxAPI/WS will mainly be impacted. Some OTAs that support child pricing from Guestline, will also be impacted.
Product Rules:
If you have a Product Rule which includes a Per Child product, not set to Absorb, then child pricing may be impacted.
Currently only pricing for 1 and 2 children update to Distribution, when the above change is completed pricing for 3, 4 and 5 children will update, if configured.
Per Person:
When Rate Plans are configured as Per Person, children configured with ‘child own rate rule’, will now update 3, 4 and 5 child pricing.
Supplements:
Using Supplements for 3rd, 4th and 5th child and using the following feature in Rezlynx PMS:
Ini Settings > Rate Plans > Supplements > ‘Include Children in Occupancy’
Other workarounds to consider include -
Customer notifications:
Workarounds that advise there will be an extra charge for children, such as notes on Room/Rate Descriptions for your IBE, disclaimer on your website or Terms & Conditions you may wish to review these.
Upsells:
Additional upsells added, to allow the guest to book for extra children.
For example on Guestline DBM:
