Bulk PLU Updating

What it does 

The bulk PLU updating allows you to make changes to numerous PLU Items at the same time. In older version you would need to open each PLU item to make those changes which can take quite a while if there are numerous changes. 

We have introduced a new screen in the Back Office where these changes can be made quickly and easily 

Benefits 

• This will save the users a lot of time when making vast changes to PLU items such as Tax Rules and the Charge Codes exist under. 
• When there is a VAT change then adjustments can be made quickly and simply. 

How it works 

1. Find PLU Batch Updating screen 

Once you have logged in to Guestline EPoS Back Office navigate to PLU Batch Updating. The screen/menus you will use to find it are PLU Setup > PLU Items. 

 2. Select the PLUs you want to edit 

Before you select the “Bulk PLU Updating” select a Charge Code with PLUs you want to change or select the blank option in the drop-down box to get all PLU items. 

Once you have the PLUs you want to update, click the Batch Updating button to launch the next screen 

3. Updating PLU Items 

Using the first drop down box you can choose what you want to change you will see it changes the grid view to include the current setting and what you can change it to. The options are Price, Charge Code and Tax Rule, T9 Text Search, Block Price Override, (prompt for) Price Override. 

3.1 Updating Charge Code or VAT Code settings 

Once you have selected the field you want to alter (Charge Code or VAT Code) you can change the PLU Items’ setting row by row, clicking Save once you have finished. 

Alternatively, you can change all PLU Items at once by using the drop-down box at the top of the window; once you have chosen your setting you can click “Apply to All”. This will alter all PLU Items in the list, click Save once you have finished. 

N.B. The list of available charge codes for the change will be filtered to keep Drink Items in relevant charge codes as well as Food Items. 

3.2 Updating T9 Text Search, Block Price Override or Price Override 

Once you have selected the field you want to alter; T9 Text Search, Block Price Override or (prompt for) Price Override, you can change the PLU Items’ setting row by row, clicking Save once you have finished. 

Alternatively, you can change all the PLU items at once by using the drop-down box at the top of the window; once you have chosen True or False you can click “Apply to All”. This will alter all PLU Items in the list, click Save once you have finished.  

3.3 Updating Prices 

When you are altering the Price of items you can do this on each row by typing in the change and then clicking Save before exiting. 

You can also make a batch change by increasing all the items price by a percentage or a fixed amount. Using the second drop down box you can choose “Percentage Increase”, “Percentage decrease”, “Fixed Amount Increase”, “Fixed Amount Decrease”, once you’ve selected this type in the Value text box how much you want to alter the prices by and then click “Apply to All”. You will see the price change as per your settings. 

Please note that if you do choose a percentage change the system does round to the nearest 0.05.
