Expedia is a “Reservation PULL Connection”
What is the difference between "Expedia Collect" and "Hotel Collect" bookings?
Expedia offers two methods of payment for their bookings — Expedia Collect and Hotel Collect.
Hotel Collect - Guest Pays Hotel - Bookings will include the credit card data in the booking and the hotel will charge the customer directly.
Expedia Collect - Guest Pays Expedia - Bookings will be paid at the time of the booking and you will charge Expedia Virtual Card (EVC) included in the booking; alternatively, the hotel has to invoice Expedia for their revenue.
RESERVATIONS
Expedia Traveller Preference Programme (ETP)
To Note; when hotels switch to the ETP then Venere must be disabled.
Guest Pays Expedia
The reservation is sent through to Distribution, minus Tax and Commission. It is possible to add the Tax back to the reservation, see screen shot below.
Virtual Payment Credit Cards can now be used for these reservations; alternatively, the hotel has to invoice Expedia for their revenue.
Guests Pays Hotel
The reservation will come through on a rate plan with an ‘A’ at the end of it. The rate will be passed through Roomlynx as the full value of the reservation. The hotel is then to charge the guest and then pay their commission to Expedia. If the Tax Amount is completed below it will not apply to these reservations.
Non-ETP Expedia Users
Guest Pays Expedia Only
The reservation is sent through to Roomlynx, minus Tax and Commission. It is possible to add the Tax back to the reservation, see below.
Virtual Payment Credit Cards can now be used for these reservations, alternatively the hotel has to invoice Expedia for their revenue.
Adding Tax to Reservation
As a default set the 'Add Tax To Reservation' as per the example below. If the hotel needs to alter this it can be removed after go live as required.
Expedia now have a separate tick box for reservations on the Expedia Connectivity Settings page when sites request Roomlynx as the channel manager – if they don’t tick “Booking retrieval”, reservations will not come into Roomlynx:
Sites can also add a 2nd connection – A few hotels now have added Roomlynx as another connection and left their old one still connected (i.e. Siteminder for bookings and Roomlynx for rates and availability). This has resulted in bookings going to their old system.
We can access this part via our Expedia login, just need to go through the verification process once.
