What is a Manually Adjusted Rate?
When a single rate in Rezlynx has its closures/ attributes manually overtyped per-channel in Roomlynx, we call this a “manual overtype”. This effectively allows a single PMS rate to be re-purposed for several channels by creating overrides at Roomlynx level.
What is a Rate per-Strategy?
Rates per-Strategy have a result identical to the Manually Adjusted Rate, except there is a single rate for each result (or Strategy) required. Each rate created has a specific purpose, i.e., if you wish to sell at different cost per-channel, you will need a rate for each channel.
Similarly, if you wish to manage restrictions per-channel, you will need a rate for each channel.
Why is this changing?
Guestline’s Platform will move our distribution engine’s capability and configuration to be part of PMS. To make these changes we need PMS + distribution rates to work identically. Currently, both the PMS (Rezlynx) and channel manager (Roomlynx) operate slightly differently, and this will not enable us to move forward with our next-generation distribution solution.
Therefore, we are taking early steps to ensure that there is a single workflow for rate management which effectively merges the currently workflows from Roomlynx and Rezlynx.
New features of the next-generation distribution platform include:
- New, redesigned conversions grid
Manage all your conversions from a simple, intuitive user interface, directly from your PMS - Auto resync of rates and restrictions
When creating or changing your mappings, our improved systems will automatically resync, ensuring that your changes are propagated as expected, and any errors/ discrepancies can be resolved quickly should they arise - Single platform workflows
Combined with our new Distribution Monitoring tools, our next-generation distribution platform aims to bring simplified channel management directly to our PMS – no need to use Roomlynx to manage your rates and restrictions for your channels
Who is affected?
Any customer who is currently managing their rates using the “Manually Adjusted Rate” workflow in Roomlynx.
What will change?
Any rates set up in Roomlynx that are Manually Adjusted will need to be migrated to Rates per-Strategy. From this point forward, it is no longer possible to configure Manually Adjusted Rates (the functionality has been removed) and instead using Rates per-Strategy should be utlilised where pricing/ restrictions modifications are required.
For us to continue with the delivery of our next-generation distribution product, these changes will need to be completed by September 14th, 2021.
What should I do next?
Follow the guide below, which shows some simple scenarios and how to migrate your existing rates to the new Rates per-Strategy counterparts. Of course, we understand that there may be challenges for some customers, so we have created a dedicated support channel purely to assist you in migrating to Rates per-Strategy.
How to migrate your Manually Adjusted Rates to Rates per-Strategy
If your PMS rate is mapped to one or more channels but the strategy is the same for each…
- If the rate is using a flex table, overrides should be performed directly on the flex table in PMS
- Flex tables allow you to define pricing per-day, per-room type
- If the flex table is used by other rates where you do not want those rates to reflect the changes, then you will need to have a specific flex table for this strategy
- If the rate is using a standard rate table, you can either
- Switch this rate to using a flex table to define per-room, per-day pricing
Or
- Use advanced banded rate rules to reference different standard rate tables which cover your different strategies for this specific rate
- If you want to set different restrictions for different channels, you should build distinct rate plans for each strategy
If your PMS rate is mapped to one or more channels and each have a different strategy…
- If the rate is using a flex table, you will need to build individual flex tables for each strategy
- You will then need to build a rate rule for each flex table, and link each flex table to the new rate rule created
- You will then link each new rate rule to your new rates
- If your rate is using a standard rate table, you will need to either
- Switch this rate to using a flex table to define per-room, per-day pricing
- You will then need to complete the steps above (“If the rate is using a flex table…”)
Or - You will need to build individual standard rate tables for each strategy
- You will then need to build a rate rule for each rate table, and link each rate table to the new rate table created
- You can also use advanced banded rate rules to reference different standard rate tables which cover your different strategies for this specific rate
- You will then link each new rate table to your new rates
If the changes you make result in new rates....
- You will need to ensure that your mapping to your channels is updated with these new rates
- You will need to perform a resync of your rates and restrictions from Rezlynx after you have completed the mapping to ensure that the channels reflect the most up to date values
