Important: actual revenue reporting works best in both Insights & Rezlynx PMS when your site(s) make use of system date and preconfigured fiscal periods. You would also be able to take advantage of scheduled day end functionality to automate the closing of fiscal periods.
For more information about setting up system date and fiscal periods please see our support article here.

Method
- Download the Detailed Extract CSV file for the required period and open in Microsoft Excel
- Create a table over the whole date range
- Filter the table to show only items in the Section “Sales”
- (Optional) Summarise the table using a Pivot Table
- Directly compare column totals to Insights
All items in this section are used to construct Posted revenue & Additional spend totals and breakdowns. Insights currently shows only Net revenue totals, so you will need to compare values in the NettTotal column of the detailed extract to Insights reports.
You can further take advantage of Pivot Table functionality in Excel to evaluate breakdowns of these totals e.g. by PackageCode or Market segment.
If your site uses preconfigured fiscal periods & system date: you can directly compare daily & date range totals, filtering on the TimeStamp column in the detailed extract. The Actual & Forecast report’s revenue columns should also match exactly.
If your site does not use preconfigured fiscal periods & system date: in most cases you will be able to use the Actual & Forecast report to compare revenue totals. The ForDate column of the detailed extract can be used to filter on specific dates, but be aware that revenue from Deposits Retained due to cancellations will show with the date “1899-12-31”; you will have to use the timestamp column for such transactions instead.

Method:
- Open the Actual & Forecast report for the required period
- Optional: filter Insights to include only revenue from Bedroom booking types in calculations
- Directly compare the data
Unlike the actual & forecast report, the Average Daily Rate & RevPAR metrics in Insights can be adjusted using the Revenue Type filters – allowing you to customise which revenue types contributes to these KPIs. Other filters on this report will adjust these calculations also, for example giving you the ability to calculate a summarised average rate across one, some or all market segments.
