The “Child Products” feature can be enabled on the products page. To get here go to:
Till programming -> Products
Select the parent product you want to edit (it must have an SKU), click in its ID column, and then click edit. Go to the “Child Products” tab across the top. This section lets us create child products directly from the parent. Click “Add Child”. You can now name the child product, for example, Sauvignon Blanc 175ml, or 250ml. Perhaps you would use it for spirits, Gordons Single, or Double, or even for your draught products, Pint or Half.
You will notice a tick box, “Automatic Product List”, once this is enabled, it will make it so that when you click the parent product on the till you will get a pop-up list of all child products to pick from. This is instead of using modifiers and a much faster system.
Using this for all draught, all wines and spirits will greatly increase the number of products you can fit on pages, as only the parent needs to be on the screen. Having fewer pages cuts down time navigating and will increase your serving speed. *Only available on tills running version 4.5.0.0 or above.
After clicking the parent product on the till you will receive a pop-up box showing all the child products (and the parent at the top). This screen can be cancelled by clicking “Cancel”, the screen will also close when a product is selected. Modifiers still function on the attached child products. |
**TOP TIP** If your parent product name contains the measure eg. ‘bottle’ or ‘25ml’, remove this as this becomes the navigation name for the group of products. Eg. Gordon’s Gin
