As part of our continuous improvement programme, Guestline have been working to improve the Rezlynx interface for users. These improvements have been delivered in multiple phases and trialled with selected users and sites. Some have already been activated for the whole estate. For example, the improved Company and Room Billing Search components. We are now activating the remaining updates for the whole Rezlynx Estate.
You will notice small differences with certain components used throughout the application. The changes have been implemented with a view to...
- Improving readability of pages
- Making work-flows more intuitive
- Speeding up common jobs
So what is changing?
- Colours - A new updated and modern design. Improves contrast and ensures the most important things stand-out. The changes follow best practice guidelines for contrast
- Tables - Sometimes referred to as results grids - These now have an increased row height to improve readability
- Font - Increased size
- Buttons - A concept of Primary and Secondary buttons has been implemented. This means that the most used functions are most visible
- Page Footers - The footers of primary pages have been redesigned to make them stand out
- Removal of unnecessary buttons - Many pop-ups contained an Abort button. These have been removed and pop-ups are now closed using a cross in the top right corner. This is more intuitive and declutters the page
- Layouts - Improved layouts of filters
- Input fields - Increase size
The changes are intentionally sympathetic to the existing system and users. They have been tested to ensure that once activated users still feel at home with the system and their daily tasks are not interrupted as a result.
Due to the increased size of fonts, table row height and buttons, there will, in some cases, be increased scrolling required for some users with smaller screen sizes. However this has been minimised as far as possible.
The following page shows off the changes mentioned.
Work-flows
The aforementioned changes are primarily focused on modernising the user interface of Rezlynx. However, the team have also put effort into considering the useability of the system on core work-flows. This work is an ongoing initiative where we will focus on a single area at a time. However, some flows have already been improved. We have mentioned Room Billing Company Searches, as well as improvements to Reservation Search.
In this latest batch of changes there are also changes to the Cancellation Flow and Room Billing.
The cancellation page has been simplified. Rather than having 2 different ways to cancel a booking, there is now one.
The Check-in page is has been updated to position the buttons in a more logical way and hide them when they cannot be used.
Advanced Conference & Banqueting
The Adv C&B application is also receiving some attention. The team have looked at some of the most used pages with a view to simplifying them. For example, removing the hover buttons when they are not strictly required.
Adding a Miscellaneous Resource item is one example where the page is now far more intuitive and cleaner.
Summary
This is just the first phase of improving the Rezlynx user experience. There are many more exciting changes to come. For example, improving the check-in work-flow. We look forward to announcing further changes over coming weeks and months
